The latest member of the 4D family is a combination of the latest generation of 4D and the retro style of the ZX silhouette making past meet future in the most harmonious way.

The ZX 2K 4D sports a single-piece Primeknit upper reinforced by both TPU plastic and taped overlays on the toebox, lacing system, and heel counter. A lightweight mesh upper is framed with overlays on an expressive gradient, the signature ZX heel cage fuses the futuristic look with precisely placed support, vivid gradient uppers fuse with groundbreaking technology for unparalled comfort in every step.

True to their rebellious spirit, adidas’ innovation incubator FUTURECRAFT partnered with Silicon Valley based company Carbon in 2017 – to explore what happens when sport meets tech. As a result Adidas landed on Carbon’s pioneering technology, Digital Light Synthesis™️ – the process used to create the iconic 3D-printed midsole that 4D features.

The 3D-printing process itself is quite something. Grown from liquid, fused with oxygen, chiseled by light – crafting a unique 3D-printed lattice. Over 4000 individual insights from athletes allowed adidas to precisely tune the midsole to running behaviours, for comfort and support where you need it most. Continuing the collaboration with Carbon into 2018 and 2019, the brand kept learning, using the insights to rebuild the next generation of the shoe.

If you’re an adidas 4D fan, you’ll know the signature midsole’s look and feel – it stands out and packs a punch when it comes to performance. But the goal has always to craft a more finessed product – to provide the best for the athlete. Adidas from the beginning has used years of athlete data. The athlete data insights form the 4th dimension, hence the 4D moniker. With its expansive roster of silhouettes, the adidas ZX series dates back quite a few years, creating a bountiful archive from which the brand has borrowed multiple times in recent years.

The now-signature sole has appeared on models across all of adidas’ categories including Originals’ ZX franchise and Y3, as well as on collaborative designs with Daniel Arsham, Hender Scheme, and Disney’s Star Wars. In the future, adidas aims to use this method to create personalized soles that are perfectly tailored to the individual’s specific needs.

Some of the best collaborative takes on the 4D platform are:

  • adidas Consortium 4D Kith Aspen
adidas Futurecraft 4D Daniel Arsham
  • adidas Ultra Boost 4D Uncaged Parley Black

The ZX 2K 4D will be available in limited quantities on heat.superkicks.in on 1st August 2020.
